Safety and security
Safety and security take the highest priority at Tata Steel in IJmuiden. Therefore, all visitors must be in possession of a valid identification card during their visit. People under 16 do not have access to our site.

Tata Steel in IJmuiden also observes strict clothing regulations to ensure your safety. In the plants, each visitor must wear closed shoes and long trousers along with the personal protective equipment (such as a helmet) provided by the guide(s). If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or a fear of heights; please inform your guide in advance.

Be aware: The helmet must be worn directly on the head, i.e. without any other headgear beneath the helmet (except for the paper cap that is worn for hygiene reasons). The only exception to this rule applies to ladies who wear a headscarf from religious conviction. If the headscarf fits tightly around the head, the helmet may be worn over the headscarf. In all other cases the helmet must be put on the head directly and the scarf must be worn over the helmet. Because of Tata Steel’s high priority for safety, it is not allowed to deviate from this rule.

This high priority for safety also means that the plants are not always accessible for disabled people. If you have any doubts, please contact IJmuiden Visits before your visit.
