Safety and Security

Safety and security are the highest priorities at Tata Steel in IJmuiden. Therefore, all visitors must carry a valid identification card during their visit. Individuals under the age of 16 are not permitted to enter our site.

Tata Steel in IJmuiden also enforces strict clothing regulations to ensure your safety. In the plants, each visitor must wear closed shoes and long trousers, along with the personal protective equipment (such as a helmet) provided by the guide(s). If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, or suffer from a fear of heights, please inform your guide in advance.

Please note: Helmets must be worn directly on the head, without any other headgear underneath (except for the disposable paper cap provided for hygiene reasons). The only exception to this rule applies to women who wear a headscarf for religious reasons. If the headscarf fits tightly around the head, the helmet may be worn over it. In all other cases, the helmet must be worn directly on the head, with the scarf placed over the helmet. Due to Tata Steel’s strong commitment to safety, deviations from this rule are not permitted.

Because of Tata Steel’s high safety standards, the plants may not always be accessible to disabled individuals. If you have any concerns, please contact IJmuiden Visits before your visit.
